It's Official - I LOVE Harley Quinn

TITLE: Harley Quinn, Vol 1 : Die Laughing (Rebirth #1)
AUTHOR: Amanda Conner and Jimmy Palmiotti
PUBLISHER: DC Comics
PUBLISHING DATE: March 21, 2017

FROM GOODREADS: Harley Quinn's crazy world on has gotten even more crazier when an unexpected, contagious enemy comes to town! Protecting her neighborhood just got a little harder, good thing they have chainsaws!

MY THOUGHTS: Ever since watching Suicide Squad and loving it (take that critics!) I've been wanting to learn more about Harley Quinn.  She's always been one of my favorite characters, but as time goes on, I love her more and more.  I'm pretty clueless about the DC Comics order and originals vs. New 52 vs. Rebirth (I'm lucky I even know THAT), but this Rebirth issue was tons of fun and I can't wait for more.  The artwork is colorful and so much fun and the story lines are action-packed and interesting.  In the first few issues, Harley and her ragtag group of friends are battling zombies in the most inventive ways.  Now these aren't your normal zombies either.  They were created when an alien came to work and ended up being ground up as beef along with some cattle which then caused th epidemic.  Harley then becomes lead in a punk rock band so she can determine who is stealing things from her Coney Island neighborhood and who killed her favorite mailman.

The new Harley has a heart.  Now she is still wild and zany but she also has a caring side, which I always got when watching Harley anyway.  She is a real animal lover (score another point for her in my book) and seems to go out of her way to help her friends.  And since Harley has gotten away from Arkham, she is now working with the police to bring down criminals rather than being the hunted.

If you love DC Comics or just Harley in general, and want a great story along with some awesome artwork, pick this up!

RATING: 4 PAWS

  2. Oh this sounds fun. I actually never saw Suicide Squad but I am a fan of Harley Quinn. I like that she's more than just a villain in this story. I'll have to try my best to read it soon. Plus, an animal lover? Absolutely! #GetSocial17

    1. Yea the animal lover thing comes into play every once in a while in the graphic novels. I loved the movie but know it got poor reviews. You should definitely give it a shot though.

  3. And OMG totally off topic but you have boxers???? I LOVE boxers! In fact, I fell for a boxer named Butch that my grandparents had (Long story short, they didn't want him but I had a fit at the fact that they would leave him tied outside and demanded they brought him in during a rain storm. From that day on, he won everyone in the family over and I was in love), then my first dog was a boxer named Misty and three years later we added two more boxers so we were a three boxer household. They were my world. All my dogs are, past, present, and future.

    1. I left you a boxer message on your blog. I love my boys and boxers are awesome dogs. We've had 5 in the past 25 years, all with their own personalities. I lovethat you made them bring the dog in during the rain storm!

  5. Harley will always be my number one gal! Sadly I don't read as many comics as I used to, I just wish I had more time for them. Really curious what my favorite DC and Marvel characters are up to these days.

    1. I try to grab them from the library. I hate to pay for graphic novels when I can read them so fast.

  6. I've came across a few comics I liked in the past. Unfortunately some of the good ones cannot be checked out online via the library. I'll have to check out this Harley character. I still want to read some of Stephen King's earlier comics as well.stopping by from blog social event theglobaldig.blogspot.com

  11. I love the idea that Harley has a heart! I watched Suicide Squads not even knowing her background. I found it sad that she still loved her abuser. I do know that there is a lot of Harley and Ivy love out there. I think they may be in comics together as well. I can't believe Harley is working with the cops still... I'll have to find this in my library!
