Weekly Reads 10/05/17

So we're already into the first week of October and I just know this month is going to fly.  I have always felt that once Halloween hits, it's no time until Thanksgiving and Christmas.  Still looking for a vehicle but am using Grandpa's and he's not in any hurry to get it back so it's very appreciated.  Oh, and the cousins got their own place.  I found out Wednesday night when Grandpa told me his prayers had been answered!

We ended up watching a movie called "The Sound."  I hadn't heard of it but it was pretty creepy.  It stars Rose McGowan, who IMO has had too much plastic surgery and didn't need it, but despite that, I liked it.  It's good for the Halloween season.  We are also still watching "Mr. Mercedes," "American Horror" and "Fear the Walking Dead" although in the last one I'm still wishing for everyone to die!

The pups are fine and Cass has to go to the vet Saturday to get shots.  There is a vet tech there who is IN LOVE with Booker T and she said he needed to come as well - so she can love on him.  They like going together so it will be okay.  We also have a wedding to attend late Saturday afternoon although we'll probably just go for the ceremony, drop off the gift at the reception and then return home. At least I hope that's the plan.

I'm trying to get some blog tour books out of the way so I can start on "Rosemary's Baby."  Between you and me, I've already read the first two chapters and I'd really liked to dive in and finish it but you know, commitments.  So here is what I plan on reading this weekend and the first few days next week.  I've already started the first one. At least they all seem appropriate for the Halloween season!

So what are your plans this weekend? Hope everyone has a good one!

  1. How sweet that you take the gang together to the vet. My dog loves to go. They spoil him rotten. LOL Great books. I'm reading Ultimate Sacrifice right now. Not too far in so I'm still not sure what it's all about.

    1. I read all but 50 pages or so of Ultimate Sacrifice yesterday. I'm enjoying it so far and really want to know who killed Michelle!

  2. So she can love on him. LOL You have a fantastic vet. I am currently reading a couple of books, Witches II by Kathryn Meyer Griffith and Unleashed by Emily Kimelman.

    1. They both went and had such fun. Booker was spoiled rotten by his "girlfriend." She even says she want to buy him a Harley jacket and cap. When we left, my husband was like "I think she forgot he was our dog!"

  3. My dog Ginger LOVES cats and so she loves to go to the vet just so she can visit the cats, lol. But poor Otis is terrified and hates the place. Looks like you have some spooky reads coming up!

    1. There are some cats that live at the vet and during our visit, one was sleeping so close to Cass but he didn't see it until it moved. He wouldn't harm cats, especially with us around, but he does love to chase them.

  4. That's such a cute vet story! My dogs would never do well visiting the vet together - my older dog would do fine, but his little sister is the biggest drama queen who would start howling even before the vet can touch her!

    1. They had a blast together. Neither are very afraid. Come to think of it, we've never had a dog really afraid but then our vet is awesome!

  5. I haven't watched Fear the Walking Dead in a while and kinda want to catch up, but just haven't. And it's not the best show. :) And how cool that the vet tech loves your dog. I;m sure Booker T loves the attention!

    1. It's entertaining. I don't care for Madison and since she is pretty much the MC, I could never binge it because she would drive me NUTS!

  6. Ah Booker T is going to be loving the vet attention...Cass maybe not so much! I'm so glad that your grandpa has finally got rid of the cousins. Lets hope they stay gone? This weekend I plan to get ploughing into that Game of Thrones book as my reading is really lagging at the moment!

    1. I miss the series on HBO already. I'll never survive until 2019. They'll have to broadcast Jon and Ygritte's real life wedding or else people will go through withdrawal.

  7. Glad to hear the cousins moved out. I hate that Rose McGowen is ruining her face. It makes me so sad.

I hope the pups did fine and you guys had a lovely time at the wedding.

I remember how much the characters' voices stood out to me the first couple of chapters in Rosemary's Baby. I can't believe you had to put it down! I hope you are able to get through those tour books quickly.

    1. I finished it Sunday. I used to this Rose McGowan was so gorgeous. I don't know why some people won't age gracefully. They'd looks so much better if they did.

  8. Good luck on the car search. It is really nice that you are able to use your grandfather's car. When I had 2 dogs, I always just brought both of them when we went to the vet. They both wanted to go. With 3, I do just take whoever needs to go since they can be a bit much. Have a great week!

    1. Yea, three would be hard but two is easy enough to do.

  9. I hope your wedding visit plans panned out. I always try to duck out of those things but my husband is a social butterfly and always wants to stay way too long. I also hope your pups had a fun visit at the vet :)

    1. It did! Neither of us wanted to stay and I promised hubby we'd stop by our favorite liquor store in that town when we left - motivation is key!
